I'm considering taking the test soon (meaning in the next few months) and I'm kinda lost on the whole process. I've been checking out the official GRE site for registration information and tried a few practice questions, but I'd like to hear from folks who have already taken it.
What are your tips and experience regarding prep, the actual test, etc.? I hate standardized tests, so I'm a little apprehensive. I know that yes, practice makes perfect, but any advice is always appreciated.
Thanks!

They just look ridiculously comfy and cute, and happen to come in a range of colors.
I also want a pair of these from LL Bean:
Obviously my mind has already turned to thoughts of spring, even though my body's still stuck in wintertime mode.

September 12: Interpol @ Agganis Arena (though, to be fair, I hate Agganis Arena and you couldn't pay me to go to another show there)
September 21: Rilo Kiley @ Avalon (tickets: check!)
October 13: Architecture In Helsinki @ Paradise
October 19: Stars @ Berklee Performance Center
October 23: The New Pornographers @ The Roxy
October 25: Mates Of State @ MFA
October 27/28: Bishop Allen @ Middle East
I need to make some choices, fast. If only my wallet allowed me to see them all.

The good: The D Line is fully operational. And it's a gorgeous day! And I get to pick up a new book at the library after work!
The bad: I think I'm getting sick. I feel like going home and curling up in bed.

I want one!
So cute, but so effing annoying too. I have a feeling I'd break it within a week of buying it :p
I'm at work until 1 today. After that I'm heading home, picking up a few things, then it's time to hit the road for the great white (or, at this time of year, green) North. I'm looking forward to having some alone time while driving on probably my last big trip in my car (before I try to sell it), and for all the good times that await me at my destination.
See you all next weekend!

My response to all the cutesy crap that's been appearing today on the internets:

I call her Hobo Dog, because she really does look homeless. She's a Pekingese poodle-chihuahua mix, or a pekapoohuahua. She is tiny and has skinny skinny little legs. When she sees someone she hasn't seen in a long time, she gets so excited that it fucks up her breathing. I miss the little critter.

Oh yeah, and my car is again fux0red at the moment. It's not starting and it stalled twice on Saturday. The plus side is that I don't need the car much now, and if it's a really expensive problem, I'm just going to sell it. It's had a lot of new stuff added to it, so I'm sure SOMEONE would take it. And the body is in pretty good shape. However, it is 10 years old. Hmmmmm. Another plus is that I've been walking more as a result (it's about a mile to the T station, which is a 15-20 minute walk, depending on how fast you're walking) and while that might suck in the wintertime when it gets to be colder than a welldigger's kerfluffen and I don't want to spend $7 on a cab ride from the station to my house, it's good right now when it's manageable and I get exercise. It does suck when I want to go to Target (which is pretty much next to the T), when I don't know how much stuff I'll need and thus dont' want to carry a buttload of bags for over a mile.
Wow. Just...wow. I shouldn't be surprised that there are people like this in the country today, but goddamn if it doesn't make me embarrassed to be an American when I hear about this. And I'm not even a particularly patriotic American. However, I try to take comfort in the fact that the majority of people condemn such bigotry and stereotyping, but I still feel a little queasy after reading the article nonetheless.

It's Darth Vader. Making a DEATH STAR. OUT OF SNOW. And "Let It Snow" plays when you wind it up! I think it's worth the $14.99, don't you? The word on the street is that Target carries them.
My team and I went out for lunch at Columbus Cafe. If you haven't been there and you find yourself in the South End, you should go. It's around the intersection of Mass Ave. and Columbus Ave. It's a cute little cafe (as the name suggests) sort of tucked out of the way, but the food is amazing. I had an El Cubano sandwich on grilled panini bread that came with an awesome fresh side salad, complete with this light but really delicious vinaigrette dressing, and crispy fries sprinkled with grated parmesan. Best of all, it's affordable and it was totally empty when we went. Thumbs up from me, Columbus Cafe.
And now for some bad news to temper the good stuff. My car is temporarily hosed. The fan belt (which cools the engine and stuff) snapped and I can't drive it, so I have to call AAA tomorrow to have it towed to a garage. Luckily, they should do this for free and my dad assured me that it was relatively inexpensive to fix. I love how I can call my dad, who lives about 300 miles away, and he still answers my car questions. The battery light comes on too, and he says that it might need to be replaced, or, more seriously, the alternator is getting ready to crap out, which will be more spensive. Le sigh. I can't wait to be rid of this car. I'm not that fazed by it, but I do hope that it will be fixed by Thanksgiving.
This is more of a summer thing, but I've been wanting to go to Waterfire for a while, and there are upcoming dates. Is anyone else interested in seeing this?
